Eight of Wands – June Oracle Intuitive Reading - Year Wheel 2026
Eight of Wands (Gilded Tarot)
We move into June 2026. It is of course a Solstice month with the date coming later in June. Summer Solstice or Winter Solstice, depending on your hemisphere of the world. The card for this month is from the Gilded Tarot deck by Ciro Marchetti, published by Hay House. The back of the deck has a shiny gold on black design.
Our card for the month is the Eight of Wands. The Wands for me are fire energy, movement forward, power, passion, and purpose. They can be magic Wands as well. By the Eight, you are really moving into a version of fullness of something. Fullness of the power, fullness of the passion and the purpose, fullness of the direction you are going in, and fullness of the fiery energy, the magical energy that is there. In this particular tarot deck, this card is interesting in that all the Wands are going in the same direction. They are all moving in one way.
The first message I am getting talks about the importance of the little sheep on the bottom of the card image. Sheep are valuable, they are important creatures for a whole bunch of different reasons as all creatures are. There is, however, also a saying that when somebody is like a sheep they are following blindly. I am not a shepherd so for those of you who farm sheep, you may have a different understanding about their behaviour. From a wildlife point of view, when I look at nature programs, any big herd grazing animals do not follow just one usually. Yes, sometimes there is one that is making decisions but sometimes it is a whole group that are making decisions, like taking a vote. The energy of this card with all the Wands going in the same direction, is following details from the Hearth card in May with “happiness in our hearts and homes” and with the big gargoyle over the fireplace bringing protection…
With this Eight of Wands, it is really saying: okay, pause. Check in with yourself. Check in with your vision. Check in with your intuition and with your knowing, and say, “Where am I aligning myself with decisions that are being made, with actions and words that are being made? Where does it really work for me, and where does it not?" This does not feel like it is so much about rebellion. It is not that. It feels more like deciding if everybody is going in that direction, does that actually work for me? And remembering always “do no harm”.
It is finding a real balance between saying “Yes, this direction is important to me in these ways, but maybe not in these ways. And so, I am going to see if there is anybody else that I can align with who has that more moderate view or has the bigger picture in mind and in heart that is more important to me than just ‘go this way’.”
It is not about following the sheep. It is about noticing who you are with, what people are saying, what you are paying attention to, and where it really aligns with you and why. Noticing where your own power comes in, where your own personal purpose and passions come in, and seeing “Yes, in this group, I do really feel like we are all connecting together and I know why. I can see it and I can feel it. It honours me and I honour them.” So, you continue on versus maybe another plan, another idea, another group of people that you go, "Ah, I love this about them, but I don't love this and this, or I don't feel that that is a direction I want to be working with or that I want to be following. So, I'm going to make some shifts or I'm going to talk to them about it.” Remember, we have had communication as important already so far in the year with the cards.
With that, you are reminded to check with people to say, "Okay, is this really what you mean? Because I need to verify. Is that really what you stand for? Is that really the direction that you’re going in? Because that isn’t comfortable for me. That doesn't make sense for me. It doesn't feel honouring and aligned for me for these reasons. So, I want to double check.”
It is both like allowing the fire, the passion, the power, and the movement forward with choice, but also really double-checking where it works for you and where it does not, from an honourable wellness, overall taking care of yourself, and taking care of others, point of view. There is a lot of balance in the messaging too.
Interestingly, it is bringing me back to think of the Pentacles card we had in January, which was a Three of Pentacles. In that card, we have a worker carving stonework creating feathers designs. It is saying that a three is like creating a triangle. You could do body, mind, spirit. You could put individual, community, family. As if there are different aligned groups that make up that kind of triangle, or whatever shape works for you. This month is an Eight of Wands, so maybe there is an eight in it. Maybe there are eight different sections you need to balance. Like a life wheel is quite often eight, right? Do you have eight different themes you are balancing?
When you look at somebody else who is making big decisions, big promises, or big plans in motion, are they looking at the balance of eight things or three things or the next six generations? Or are they purely saying this is the way, go this way, we have got to do this, this way. Ah, it is not always so obvious, and it is not always so easy or so simple to find that balance, but that is something that the June card is saying.
Yes there is beautiful sunshiny, fiery energy in June. For those of us in the north, we get the longest days. We get lots of bright magical energy in that way. Lots of growth coming up in our natural world at this time too. But then there is this other side that is saying, "Okay, let me notice. Am I going with this? Am I standing with this? Does it make sense to me? Do those people or those objectives have the balance? Because if they don't have the balance, is it something that I can really align with or is it something that I need to speak to them and say, ‘Whoa, whoa. You're thinking of this, this, and this. Great. But you didn't think about this.’ And so, your balance is all topsy-turvy.”
When the alignment or the balance is off, your triangle has a really weird shape. Or your octagon is now an odd shape. It is not a balanced. The wheel has one wedge that is massive, but the others not so much. I am not sure if that makes sense. So, when you read this, let me know. 🙂 Hopefully, it does. A very interesting card.
There are beautiful plays between the power, passion, and purpose, and a lovely fire. And remember, we saw fire in the Hearth card of May, in the fireplace. Again, it is reminding us that when fire is in balance and used as a tool and an empowerment within, our own inner fire is great. When fire is out of control, it is devastating on a whole bunch of different levels. So, these Eight of Wands, representing the fire, would be saying, “Okay, if I’m building something and I'm creating something, and I'm getting it going more and more, is it in a direction where when that builds it is doing good. Is it working with and creating balanced tools, resources, respect, honouring, and wellness, or is it creating an out-of-control fire that will only be realized once the devastation is done?” Oh. Ah. Powerful stuff in June.
