Four of Swords

The October 2025 guidance reading card is from the Gilded Tarot. This is a new month in a new season. For us in the north we are in Fall or Autumn. For the southern hemisphere, you are in Spring energy. We also move towards a big celebration near the end of the month, with Halloween or Samhain as October moves into November (northern hemisphere). Those sorts of energies have a lot that can come through. The veil is thinned, and it can be big energy. Let's see what the card wants to bring – Four of Swords.

Oh my goodness, Four of Swords… So, when I think about sacred, fun, and beautiful October, Four of Swords is not the card that I think of, haha. In the card image we see our fellow, he could be a soldier or he could be a merchant of sorts, lying on his bed, eyes wide open. He is staring at the ceiling, if you like. He has his sword next to him which is one of the Four Swords. The others are up on the wall as decoration or they are floating in space - as the swords do in the Tarot, ha!

The Swords for me in the Tarot, are the Air suit. They are the thinking, the mindset, and the intellect. They are also a conflict card. They can be power as well because it can cut through things. The Four in the way I look at it, is often a stuck energy where one is feeling trapped, boxed in, unsure, not knowing where to go next, and feeling worried. All of that could come in with this card, but the Four can also be a very sacred Angelic number. The Fours can be setting the cornerstones; they can be allowing things to create structure. They can be to create home in the way where you have the Four walls and are then ready to go. It can be both types with this card. The visual here is not the happy, sacred, beautiful sort of feeling, because it is more the worried, unsure, lying in bed eyes wide open, can't stop thinking, way of feeling. Like looking at all these problems, looking at these challenges represented by or brought by these Swords pointing down and at.

In October of 2025 we are looking at a possible phase of an increased challenge. I do not like to say that because I wish we would have “happy, happy, joy, joy” but life is life, and the world is the world. This could be a phase of increased challenge in some way. Now that we know this information, we want to pay attention leading to it and throughout, as well as with all the other cards to this point. We want to pay attention to the thoughts and actions. We want to pay attention to the denials we have just seen with the September card. And also paying attention to anything else that could lead to challenges, that could lead to worries, and that could lead to difficulties this month and into the later parts of the year.

Now you know the energy that is bringing guidance and awareness. How can you basically help yourself leading up to October before you get there? And now being here, it could be important to notice where you may tend to get into battle gear. Remember that the classic Tarot tends to talk in an old kind of way, with these types of cards. In the Four it could be that he is getting ready for a battle. Is he preparing for it and that is why he is in “oh my goodness” energy? He is looking up at the ceiling. He has his sword at the ready. Maybe there is an upcoming battle soon that he is going to have to be dealing with. That would be huge.

What could be something that you are feeling that you are entering into? A phase where you are getting into or you could be getting into that has that same kind of energy, that battle mode energy? Can you shift it? Can you change it? Can you do something different? Can you think something different? Can you make a different choice? Can you bring a different awareness? and/or Can you talk to yourself in a different way? Earlier in the year we had something similar and it is asking if you could also look at what energy are you bringing to the world and how is the world reflecting that to you? Check in here and see if there is a shift that can be done.

Let me see if there is anything else that wants to come up with this card… It feels like it is an overall expression as well. It could touch on a whole bunch of different avenues in life and in your life. As you did (or may need to revisit to do) the Surrender Denial stuff in September, it was/is accepting things for how they are to then see things clearly and to then make better decisions. This feels like it is your key for your lock that will help the October energy and whatever is going on now.

If you keep that lock closed and the door closed, the gate closed, or the room closed, then October feels like it is going to be more difficult and more boxed in, plus more worrying. However, if you take the September card and you use that key, unlock that, and open the window, open the shutters, open the cage, or open the door, then you can step into this Four of Swords in October and look at it as a new opportunity. It can be a different kind of start than you had ever anticipated because you are setting yourself up for something new, valuable, and helpful. This is a great opportunity for you. You can really work with this getting to, getting into, and through October.

As the reading mentioned earlier, the Swords are also a power energy, so where are you empowering yourself or not? Where are you giving your power to another person, to a situation, to an energy in the world, or to a topic happening? Or maybe you are giving your power away because of how somebody else approaches things. Where are you giving your energy and your focus, and then what is your own system saying: Are you getting worried about it? Is it staying on your mind? Is it affecting you away from wellness and good
thinking? Or is it really helping? That would be important for you to notice too.

That is all the October energy. Very interesting with lots of opportunities to shift, but it is going to require some oomph and some understanding and awareness with those Swords and that conflict kind of possibility.
